Environmental Policy
Meeting Strategies Worldwide believes in using the Earth's resources wisely - whether at a client event or in the office. To meet our commitment to environmental stewardship, we seek opportunities to educate, inspire and implement practices that promote conservation and sustainability. We make the choice every day through our actions and words to support the environment and help others to do the same.
In addition to the extensive environmental practices we implement on behalf of our clients, we have stringent internal policies that reflect our commitment to environmental responsibility.
- Company-owned facility has passed an energy efficiency, water conservation and chemical usage assessment.
- Member of the BlueWorks Business Program, which recognizes Portland businesses with recycling and environmental policies in place.
- Purchase carbon offsets for all corporate travel and renewable energy for electrical consumption.
- Print double-sided on 100% post-consumer recycled paper.
- Use energy-efficient appliances, CFLs in light fixtures and energy-efficient central heating and cooling.
- In-house recycling program.
- Purchase recycled-content office products and eco-friendly cleaning products
- In our kitchen we use chinaware, glassware, and flatware instead of disposables and purchase organic and fair trade foods whenever possible.
- Office is located on a bus line and walking distance to mass transit.
- Downspout disconnected to keep water out of storm drains.
- Company cars are hybrids.
During recent construction to expand our offices, we used low VOC paints, installed 100% recyclable carpeting (produced using 40% post consumer recycled content [recycled plastic containers]), and donated or recycled nearly 90% of the scrap materials.
Meeting Strategies Worldwide also gives back to the local community. We donate leftover supplies to School House Supplies and Sisters of the Road Cafe. We sponsor volunteer projects at the Oregon Food Bank for all local meeting industry colleagues and clients.
